Push for Porn-Free Option on Internet By Former School Board President – If America’s Really About Right to Choose, Where’s Choice to Opt-Out of Porn Exposure??

EDITORIAL: Really, porn is the ONLY service in America that we can’t turn off if we don’t want it. That is, besides taxes!! Why does our government keep this festering boil on our ass mandatory to help these pushers recruit and train future generations of sexual predators and deviants??
You have to ask what is Porn Valley so afraid of since they constantly “quote” American porn purveyors as ALL wanting porn to stay a staple on the web. If ALL those statistics Porn Valley keeps throwing out in the press to speak for American consumers were true, they shouldn’t have a problem with letting all those supporters “OPT IN” if they really want porn.
Or . . . Is the truth, Porn Valley, that you know about 80% of us would TURN YOU OFF?? Isn’t that the REAL TRUTH of what American consumers think about Porn Valley?? That and the fact that they would LOSE ACCESS TO ALL YOUR CHILDREN so it would inhibit their recruiting processes!!

PETALUMA, CA — Substantial numbers of youth Internet users are exposed to online pornography (93% of boys according to a 2008 study found in Cyber Psychology & Behavior), including a number of children ages 7 and 8. We have a new generation of young people who are being raised in the midst of a pornography boom.

“It shouldn’t have to be this way,” according to Scott Cooper, a youth advocate, author and former school board president from Petaluma, California. “This growing problem happens despite having reasonable federal obscenity laws in place to protect our children from hard-core Internet pornography. The Supreme Court has consistently upheld these laws.” (*These laws can be found at the following link: www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/718/usc_sup_01_18_10_I_20_71.html)

Cooper is spearheading a national movement to pressure Congress into requiring that Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide at least one general community Internet alternative that is in compliance with federal obscenity laws meant to protect minors. He states, “This is at once extremely harmful and ridiculous. The government won’t enforce its own laws and then won’t mandate a safe, legal alternative. It’s like making lead in toys illegal, not enforcing the law, and then not even requiring that toy companies offer at least one safe, legal, lead-free toy. This is a clear violation of consumer and parental rights and choice.”

An attitudinal poll conducted by Common Sense Media in June 2006, showed that 85% of parents believe that the Internet posed the greatest risk to their children among all forms of media. “At this very moment our children are being exposed to hard-core gratuitous sex, violence and profanity at a stage of life when they are still developing their beliefs, judgments and values. They are being socialized to view such images and behaviors as normal, routine and comical. This would have been unimaginable to past generations. It’s time to take a stand on behalf of our children.”

SafeInternetPetition.Org was established in 2011(www.safeinternetpeition.org) and is also a member of the War on Illegal Pornography (www.waronillegalpornography.com), a bi-partisan national umbrella organization dedicated to fighting illegal pornography on behalf of children and families.
