“America’s Most Wanted” is staying on patrol with Lifetime. The cabler has ordered another 20 episodes of the enduring unscripted series hosted by John Walsh. The show bowed on Lifetime in December and has improved its Friday 9 p.m. time period by double-digits, including in the cabler’s target femme demos.

Lifetime nabbed “AMW” last September, five months after Fox decided to end the series’ run after 24 seasons. At the time, Fox cited rising production costs for the show that had been a network staple since 1988.

” ‘America’s Most Wanted’ has made an immediate impact on Lifetime and, more importantly, John Walsh’s courageous fight to raise much needed awareness of many overlooked crimes and bring justice to those who commit them,” said Robert Sharenow, exec veep of programming for Lifetime Networks. “AMW’s” tip line has led to the capture of 12 people profiled on the show since it debuted on Lifetime.

“Lifetime and its viewers have been great partners of ‘America’s Most Wanted’ and we’re going to keep the heat on those who think they can run, but they certainly can’t hide,” Walsh said.

It’s understood that Lifetime is considering other projects with Walsh.

Walsh exec produces “AMW” with Lifetime’s Sharenow, Gena McCarthy, Abigail Harvey and Jim Rapsas. Twentieth TV remains the distributor of the show.
